Athenica provided comprehensive environmental consulting services for an owner of a property with past industrial and petroleum uses. As a result of Athenica’s efforts, the project qualified for the New Jersey Voluntary Cleanup Program. Thus, work was performed in strict accordance with New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) regulations and guidance documents. Athenica’s Environmental consulting services included a Preliminary Site Assessment, a Phase II ESA, soil gas sampling, and preparation of an RAWP for groundwater remediation that was approved by the NJDEP. Athenica also performed a pilot test of the proposed groundwater remedy, which was dual-phase extraction (DPE) system consisting of utilizing a vacuum truck to remove light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) from a network of groundwater monitoring and extraction wells.
Athenica provided environmental consulting activities in response to a petroleum spill of approximately 7,500 gallons of number six fuel oil inside a residential apartment building. Athenica provided oversight of the spill cleanup activities by multiple spill contractors to verify that the work complied with current applicable regulations.
